The most upright-growing of lettuce types, Romaine is a commonly cultivated leaf lettuce with delicious flavor and strong, crisp midribs. Tear some up for a tossed salad, or take advantage of the large leaf size on a sandwich or as garnish. Plant in full sun spring and fall; part sun in summer.
