Naturally found on lake and river edges, swamps, or flooded sites, this large coniferous tree is unique in that it loses its needles. Will grow in normal garden soil, and even tolerate drought once established.

Broadleaf evergreen shrub. Dwarf spreading habit with tiny, lustrous leaves. Self-fruiting form. Red fruit ripens in fall.
