A commonly cultivated spring bulb that is well-suited for garden's edge, between flagstones or the rock garden. Vibrant flower color and strong, delicious fragrance. Plant in front of taller spring bulbs or tuck into sunny nooks and crannies for a springtime delight. Can become invasive.

Hummingbirds are drawn to the dainty flowers offset by bold, richly colored foliage. Gorgeous next to lady's mantle, delicate woodland ferns, or wide silvery-blue hosta leaves. The strong, straight stems are ideal in cut flower arrangements. Mulch lightly in winter to protect shallow roots. Prefers average, moist well-drained soil.

Profuse flowers on evergreen foliage are lovely cascading over stones, planted at garden's edge, or along walkways. Blooms attract butterflies. Makes a striking companion to spring-blooming perennials and bulbs. Shear after blooming for best appearance.
